Pakistan Flag

The last Viceroy of British India and the first Governor-General of the Dominion of India, Lord Mountbatten selected 15th August, 1947 as the date of independence for both India and Pakistan then why Pakistan celebrate its independence day on 14th August?

The main reason behind it as the power transferred to Muhammad Ali Jinnah (founding father) in Karachi on August 14, 1947. Later on, Liaquat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, chaired a cabinet meeting in June 1948 and proposed that Pakistan would celebrate its independence day on August 14th which was approved by Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Thus, Pakistan celebrate its independence day one day before India.
